Apple’s App Store Is Growing by 1,000+ Apps a Day
Recent data compiled by Pocketgamer.biz, show developers are currently submitting more than 1,000 apps per day to Apple’s App Store. However in 2008 when Apple opened the App Store few people could have imagined the impact it would have on all things mobile. In fact Matthew Lynn, in a 2007 article on Bloomberg.com, all but called the iPhone a failure in the making, exclaiming “How about phones with fewer gadgets but better at making calls? It won’t come from the iPhone. Apple will sell a few to its fans, but the iPhone won’t make a long-term mark on the industry.”
Within a few years, text and phone calls took the back seat to connectivity via apps and the way people used mobile devices was fundamentally changed — the smartphone was born. Today, if there is anything you want to do in a mobile world “there’s an app for that.”
Apple iDevice users have over 1.5 million applications and the number of available apps is growing at an astonishing rate. May 2015 saw a record 39,992 apps submitted for approval by Apple, a clear validation that the mobile world is ever expanding and is more relevant than ever.
